Haystack is a research and logistics management system that provides comprehensive data on millions of parts contained in the Federal Supply Catalog and related databases. In addition to the comprehensive data that Haystack provides, the Haystack Gold application offers a batch process called BatchPlus that allows you, through a simple process from the BatchPlus Settings screen, to create queries and results for 5, 10, 500 or more search items (for example, NIIN/NSNs or part numbers and CAGE codes) with default choices for output formats. You also have the option of creating a custom output format that reflects the specific information you want included in your report.

The main database is the Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) database, which is composed of multiple, separate sub-databases. In addition to the FLIS database, Haystack includes several other databases. For a list of the databases and a brief summary of each database, see the topic Haystack Databases.
You can search the databases using the Basic Search, Super Search, Visual Search, or Acronym Search.
