The Cognizance Symbol (COG) is a two-position prefix used by the Navy to provide supply management information. The first position is a single-number code that identifies the storage account. The second position is single-letter code that identifies the inventory control point (ICP) that has control of the material. The inventory managers may be Navy or Defense.
