APL Scan
The APLAllowance Parts List - the Navy's general distribution list. scan feature enables you to find particular lines of information within large lists of records for an APL segment, particularly Segments D and F.
To use the scan feature
- Click Database > US
USP UNIT (Unit of Measure). Navy > APL/AEL
Allowance Equipment List - the Navy's list for Trident submarines..
- Type 00000179 in the RIC
Repairable Item Code - indicates whether or not an item is repairable. The code is directly associated with the Material Control Code (MCC). If the MCC is D, M, W, or Z, the item is not repairable. If the MCC is E, H, or X, the item is repairable. Also Routing Identifier Code - a three-character code representing a depot in critical supply of a given item. The RIC is the Army Inventory Control point having Army item management responsibility (items for which wholesale item management is assigned to Army), or RIC of the service item control center (items for MS for which DLA/GSA are assigned wholesale integrated management responsibility). Also Reportable Item Code - can be used interchangeably with the APL code and the AEL code. They are items in the Navy's General Distribution Allowance Part List. APLs cross-reference to part numbers, NSNs, and FSCM/CAGEs./APL/AEL field, and then click Search.
The Current APL window appears with the Segment D tab in view. - Scan this list by a specific FSC
Federal Supply Classification - a four-digit code. The first two digits denote the group or major division of commodities; the last two denote the class or subdivisions of commodities within a group. Items which are similar in physical or performance characteristics are requisitioned together, or grouped together, for supply management purposes and given a Federal Supply Class (FSC) code. The FSC is. code, NIIN
National Item Identification Number - nine-digit number assigned to a part under the Federal Cataloging Program. It is the last nine digits of the National Stock Number., CAGE
Commercial Activity Government Entity - listings of firms that manufacture or distribute items procured by the U.S. Government; also known as the Federal Supply Code for Manufacturers. The following are the types of activities and documents that are assigned CAGE Codes: Manufacturers; Vendors; Government agencies who manufacture an item of supply; Government agencies that control the development of government specifications and/or standards; Government specifications or standards when no single government source can be identified; NATO manufacturers., or Part/Ref No. All of these headings have text box search fields under the heading.
For this example, type 5910 in the FSC text box in the FSC column, and then click Filter.
The list is not only sorted by this FSC code, it is also reduced to much fewer records. - To clear the list and return to your original results list, click Clear.
- Sort your APL records by a specific column. For example, click the FSC black triangle in the FSC header column. Your list is sorted in ascending order. Click the triangle to toggle between ascending and descending order.
- To return to your original list without any sorting, click Back at the top-left of your window.
